The Department offers flexible part time provision which provides various vocational and academic routes to working in the sector. The success rates are outstanding. Most learners succeeding on our programmes go on to have successful careers in the sector.

University of Sunderland

East Durham College working in partnership with the University of Sunderland offer the PGCE Post Compulsory Education and Training programme and the Post Compulsory Education and Training programme. Please see full course details below and please note you should hold at least a 2:2 honours degree in a relevant subject.

Mentoring & Coaching

Mentoring and coaching have contributed significantly to the learning experience. Partners in the DfES Pilot Project ‘Use of Coaching in Initial Teacher Training’ resulted in national and international accolade and praise as best practice.
