Yesterday, East Durham College’s Hairdressing Department held another one of their ever-popular master class courses.
The master class course was given by leading North East hairdresser Jen Deighton who runs the TONI&GUY salon in Sunderland and has been a five times finalist at the British Hairdressing Awards, North East Finals.
Jen demonstrated the hairdressing giant’s latest collection of cuts and styles, including ladies and gents hair. The event was ideal for any experienced hairdressers and stylists working in the industry.
Jen commented: “I love coming into East Durham College, they have a great hairdressing team, it’s also fantastic to see some familiar faces on the course.
“I’ve brought a team with me today, its great to get out of the salon doing workshops like this.”
The two-hour demo was followed by an optional workshop where you could try one of the new cuts for yourself, receiving expert guidance from Jen and her team.
Gabby Maddison,17 from Seaham, was enrolled on the course by her employer, Alexandra Hairdressing based in Ashbrooke, Sunderland: “The cut and colour is very popular at the minute and it’s important to keep up to date with all the styles.
“It’s been really interesting and I’ve definitely benefited from coming onto the course,” said Gabby.
Simon Smith, Curriculum Leader for Hair & Beauty at the College, said: “We are delighted to welcome back Jen, these TONI&GUY master classes are fantastic.
“We often use them for our own staff’s development and are always amazed how much we learn and get out of them.”
The event took place at the College’s Peterlee Campus from 3pm on Wednesday 6th April.
