Vice Principal Starts New Role At East Durham College

Vice Principal Eugene McCrossan has recently taken up his new role at East Durham College, which as campuses in Peterlee and Houghall in Durham.

Mr McCrossan is the final member in the new Senior Management Team structure at the College, joining Andrew Phillips, Vice Principal of Business Development and External Relations, Sally Hudson, Vice Principal of Curriculum & Performance and Principal Stuart Wesselby.

Eugene, originally from County Tyrone in Northern Ireland, has joined the College from his previous post as Financial Planning Director at Northumbria University in Newcastle.

His new role as Vice Principal of Finance and Business Planning will see him steer the College through the current unsettled economic climate, helping the College to grow and achieve its full potential.

Eugene said: “I was thrilled to be appointed to this new role. I see it as a fantastic challenge in an organisation with huge potential.

“The College has a superb new campus at Peterlee which the students and staff are rightly proud of and also with the 550 acres at the Houghall campus there is great potential for development and growth in learner numbers and other business opportunities."

Principal Stuart Wesselby added: “The aim for the new Senior Management Team is to really put East Durham College on the map. We will create two outstanding further education establishments where learners will get the best learning experience possible, with the best resources and best learning opportunities.

“My aim is to make sure East Durham College becomes ‘the college of choice’ for young people, adults learners and local businesses across County Durham and a indeed the North East as a whole.”
