Year 11 Houghall Campus Open Day - Saturday 15th May 2021
Saturday, 15 May 2021
Thinking of coming to EDC next September? We're hosting a special open day for year 11s at our Houghall campus on Saturday 15th May 2021 from 9:30AM to 11:30AM. Please note that due to COVID restrictions, last entry is at 10:45AM.
This event is for existing applicants to the college only and works on an invite-only basis. If you'd like to come to the event, apply for a course at our Houghall campus today! Click here to view the full list of courses >>
For visitors to our open day we strongly encourage that you wear a face covering while at the premises. We also have extensive social distancing measures around the campus to ensure your safety while you're here.
Our Foundation and Derwent departments are not available at this event and will be running their own. Please get in touch with student services on 0191 375 4700.
Whether you know what course you want to do - or not! - EDC's open days are the best way to learn about our range of courses, have a chat with your potential tutors and see what course is right for you!
If you're totally unsure about what you want to do, these days are a great way to come along and get an idea of what EDC has to offer. Our careers advice team are the best people to speak to here, and they're on hand to give you all the information you need to pick the right course.
What to Expect at the Event
Our open day is a fantastic way for you to tour our multi-million pound facilities at Houghall, giving you a real taste of what to expect when you come to study with us.
You are welcome to take a look around all of our facilities, including our farm, animal care centre and equine centre. However, please follow one-way systems at all times, and maintain your distance from others in line with current COVID regulations.
You can expect:
- Curriculum Introduction Talks - a rolling talk will be taking place every 15 minutes, covering key college information and careers in the land-based sector
- Tours of our animal unit, farm and equine unit
- Displays by our arboriculture and land and wildlife teams
- Floristry course information sessions and course interviews
Please note that unless you have mobility issues, we cannot allow cars up to the equine unit as there is extremely limited parking. The equine centre is an approx 10 minute walk from the main site.
