East Durham College student Kirsty Fishwick has picked up a Student of the Month award for her hard work at the College’s new Peter Jones Enterprise Academy.
Kirsty, 19, from Peterlee, is studying on the Enterprise and Entrepreneurship Level 3 Diploma at the Peter Jones Academy and was selected for this month’s award by lecturer Jill Campbell who praised Kirsty for her attendance and punctuality along with mature attitude towards to her work.
Jill said: “Kirsty has so far attended all workshops on her course and always comes to class with a positive-mental attitude which is shown through her work which is always of a very high standard.
“She is a delight to teach and is a valuable member of the group at the Academy who gives her all in everything she does.”
And Kirsty, who opted to join this course at East Durham College instead of going onto university, was delighted to be selected for this month’s award and hopes to continue her great start when she returns in the New Year.
She said: “I am really proud to be selected for a Student of the Month award. I’ve really been enjoying my new course at college.
“I enjoy working with the group and Jill has been a fantastic tutor helping us through the work, I can’t wait to continue working hard Next Year.”
Kirsty, who joined 12 other award winners at the ceremony on Monday, added: “I love what I am doing now at the College on the Peter Jones Enterprise Academy course and I hope one day I will be able to run my own successful business.”
The Peter Jones Enterprise Academy has a mission to train and motivate young people, unleash entrepreneurial talent and create opportunities for young people to realise their business potential.
